Only the visibility of our faces was permitted, so we were forced to conceal our entire heads and bodies in public spaces. We tried to reflect our beauty, freedom, and autonomy through this limited visibility, but it was not possible. We became accustomed to leading double lives and pretending to be someone we were not.
